Meeting Discusses Drinking Water, Sewerage Issues

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jan, 2019 ) ::Commissioner Mehmood Hassan chaired a meeting here to discuss clean drinking water and sewerage issues in the city.
The meeting was told that residents of city were being provided 28 cusecs of clean water daily against the demand of 53 cusecs and an ongoing scheme of 11 cusecs of water would be completed in 2020.
Officials of Municipal Corporation and Public Health Engineering gave briefing to the commissioner.
They stated that Rs 260 million were being spent on the first phase of water supply project.
To overcome sewerage problems, a mega project worth Rs 400 million had been prepared and Rs 200 million spent so far, the meeting was told.
Also, Rs 70 million would be spent in financial year 2018-19, the officials said.
The meeting was told that the existing sewerage system has the capacity of draining out 51 cusecs of sewage and city populated areas were releasing 124 cusecs of sewage currently.
The officials said that sewerage system would be improved by 2021 and drainage of more than 44 cusecs of sewage would be possible.
A plan is under discussion in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for provision of clean drinking water, improvement in the sewerage system and installation of new pipelines, added the officials.
