Minister Kirmani Visits CEMB At PU

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Aug, 2024) Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani Saturday visited Punjab University's Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB).
According to official sources here, he visited and reviewed laboratory of the centre, cotton research and growth rooms and purification unit. He said that the Punjab government wanted to improve working of the centre under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Kirmani said that Punjab Agriculture Department would extend all possible cooperation in this regard.
He said that the incumbent government was focusing on strengthening latest research in universities and financial support was also being ensured in this regard. He appreciated the efforts of CEMB scientists for introducing quality seed in the market besides latest variety of GM cotton.
He further said there was a need that scientists develop such varieties of cotton which were heat-wave tolerant and resistant to diseases. He directed the CEMB to present applicable plan comprising proposals in the next meeting.
