Ministry Of Climate Change Launches Women's Safety Project In Rural Area

Ministry of Climate Change has launched a project for the safety of women's health in rural areas, which would be completed in 2030, said an official of the ministry here on Tuesday
Talking to APP, an official said, "Forty-nine percent women are affected by climate change and global warming and we are committed to safety of women's health and the end of poverty elevation".
She further stated that women of rural areas women were working in open environment for many hours every day like fetching water from far-flung areas and working in crop fields and factories badly affected with climate change.
She added that 75 percent of the women are affected from the health hazards and there is dire need for more legislation on the environment.
She said, "We are committed to achieving all the SDGs by 2030, it also need to focus attention on the impact of climate change and global warming on women as almost 49 percent of its population-based on women.
Nasreen Azhar, chairperson of the Human Rights Commission said that in urban centres such as Lahore and Islamabad, women activists remained at the forefront of public interest litigation against environment degradation and mega projects posing direct risks to low income housing and invaluable heritage conservation, notably the Lahore Orange line metro train.
