Modern computer lab, student resource center inaugurated at AMC

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) A state-of-the-art computer lab and student resource center was formally inaugurated at Ayub Medical College Abbottabad, marking a significant step toward modernizing medical education in the region.

The facility was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, alongside Chairman of the board of Governors (BoG) of Ayub Medical and Teaching Institution, Professor Dr. Abid Jameel.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by BoG member Professor Alamzaib Manan, Dean and CEO Professor Dr. Saqib Malik, Hospital Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Afridi, Medical Director Dr. Imran Khan, as well as IT teams from KMU and Ayub Medical College (AMC), and heads of various departments.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq expressed his satisfaction with the lab's modern infrastructure and technological setup. He said the facility will ensure greater transparency in the examination system, with all tests now transitioning from traditional paper-based formats to computer-based testing.

He added that the timely release of results would help medical students complete their five-year programs without delays.

Dr. Zia-ul-Haq commended the Board of Governors and the college administration for installing high-end computer systems, integrating advanced technology, and establishing a dedicated control room to support efficient operations. He emphasized that all future examinations would be conducted in the new lab, ensuring immediate results and upholding merit.

Chairman BoG Professor Dr. Abid Jameel highlighted the institution’s ongoing commitment to modernization. “This computer lab is just a glimpse of the advancements we are implementing. More modern facilities will be introduced soon as we aim to make this the best medical institution in the province,” he stated. He reiterated the administration’s mission to provide world-class facilities to students, faculty, medical professionals, and the general public.
