Monsoon Concludes Amid Less Rainfall, Water Shortage For Rabi

Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has officially announced the conclusion of monsoon season whereas the daily situation reports during the period revealed less rainfall occurred in the country.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Oct, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has officially announced the conclusion of monsoon season whereas the daily situation reports during the period revealed less rainfall occurred in the country.

According to FFC and National Disaster Management Authority daily situation reports on Tuesday during monsoon season tumultuous rainfalls prevailed.

It has yielded less accumulation of water in the reservouirs. The reduced water buildup in the major dams has caused 38 per cent shortfall for Rabi season that starts from October 1.

The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) advisory council committee on Monday projected 38 per cent water shortage for crop cultivation during the ongoing Rabi season.

The Meteorological office also briefed IRSA that winter rainfalls are also expected below normal.

The reports have depicted that although no major flood or calamity occurred during the season while the required amount of water to reserve in the reservouirs was not achieved.

This situation has raised concerns over the matter as it can cause food security situation in the country. Wheat being the widely cultivated Rabi season crop along with rapeseed, lentil, tobacco and grams are some other harvests.
