Monsoon Trees Plantation In GB To Start Next Month: DFO

ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2017 ) : The monsoon trees plantation campaign would start next month in Astore district in which all stakeholders including national institutions, educational institutes and general public would be involved to achieve the set targets.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Saleem Khan told media persons that the campaign will continue till October where different species like Deodar, Chirpine, Poplar and others would be planted with the help of students, farmers, NGOs, civil society organizations, general public and forest staff to make GB lush green.
He said all resources were being utilized to conserve and protect forests. The DFO said illegal cutting of forests has been banned and strict action would be taken against timber mafia. Forest field staff has been directed to keep alert during upcoming Eid holidays to avoid timber smuggling. He said heavy fine would be imposed against timbers smugglers besides sending them to jails.
