MPAs demanded resolution of HDA employees problems

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -7th Sept,2016) : The Members of Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have called for immediate action to address problems faced by the employees of Hyderabad Development Authority.

At a press conference here Wednesday, MPA Sabir Qaimkhani echoed the complaints being made by the protesting staff of the HDA and its subsidiary Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA). "On one hand over a thousand contractual staff of the HDA and WASA has been sacked without prior notice and on the other hand the regular employees of both the departments haven't been paid their salaries for three months," claimed Qaimkhani.

He said the protests by the HDA Employees Union (CBA) had resulted in closure of the drainage system and suspension of the water supply in some towns of the district.

"Because of the workers' strike the streets and roads in the city are deluged with sewage poodles and people from many areas are complaining of water scarcity," he said.

The MPA complained that the MQM's delegation tried to meet Commissioner Hyderabad Qazi Shahid Pervez, who has been given acting charge of Director General of the HDA, but they were not given an appointment.

He said the MQM's legislators had also requested the elected representatives of the union to call off their protests until the Eid holidays while assuring them of their party's complete support. The MPAs Rashid Khilji and Dilawar Qureshi who accompanied Qaimkhani demanded that the Sindh Government should immediately take notice and resolve the issues.
