KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 22nd March, 2019) Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Friday said Mufti Taqi Usmani of Darul Uloom Karachi had expressed reservations on his security earlier as well.The Sindh governor lauded driver and security official for showing bravery, while the renown scholar's vehicle came under attack."The inspector general Sindh Police and Sindh Rangers are doing their best," he said while talking to media in Karachi.Imran Ismail said he considered appointment on the post of Sindh home minister as must.
He said the Sindh government had the authority, but the Sindh IG should also be given power as he could not perform well unless he had authority.He said the National Action Plan was fully being implemented.
The governor said India and some unseen powers were not happy over staging of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).Religious figure Maulana Amir Shahab was targeted in a firing assault at Nipa Chowrangi of Karachi on Friday.
At least six unknown assailants on three motorbikes, opened fire at the vehicle on the Nipa flyover.The attackers fled the scene after firing leaving Amir Shahab and his security guard severely wounded.
The security guard later succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead.Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, Amir Sheikh, told media that the assailants attacked the second vehicle which was following Mufti Usmani's car near Nipa roundabout."Not two, it is a single incident of firing and Maulana Taqi Usmani was the target," the police officer said.He said that Maulana Taqi Usmani remained safe as he was not boarded on the car which came under attack.
The police officer said that the cleric was renowned for his neutral personality and services. He expressed sorrow over the attack on Mufti Taqi Usmani. NNI
