Muhammad Farooq Afzal appointed as Chairman of Pakistan-Turkey Business Council of FPCCI

President FPCCI Mr. Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai has appointed CEO of ITN Group Mr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal as Chairman of Pakistan-Turkey Business Council of FPCCI for the year 2019

KARACHI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 15th March, 2019) President FPCCI Mr. Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai has appointed CEO of ITN Group Mr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal as Chairman of Pakistan-Turkey Business Council of FPCCI for the year 2019.President FPCCI said "It is my earnest desire that the above mentioned Business Council should be active and to resolve problems/dofficulties faced by the members of business community for doing business with Turkey".Daroo Khan also said that the aim before Farooq Afzal should be to promote and enhance trade ties and collaboration in bilateral trade promotion activities, joint ventures, investmentbhu opportunities and exchange of trade delegations as well as participation in the Fairs & Exhibitions regularly.Prior to that Farooq Afzal served as Chairman of Pak Russia Business Council for 10 years, Vice Chairman PakUkraine Business Council, Chairman Pak Philippense Business Forum, Director of various Business Councils and Forums, hence, possess an enormous experience of enhancing trade volume between Pakistan and respective countries.

Farooq Afzal said that there is huge trade potential of almost $ 10 billion between both countries while current trade is approx.

$ 500 million. In December 2013, EU granted GSP+ status to Pakistan wherein it was expected that Turkey will also do the same, but Turkey proposed FTA between both countries and negotiation started in 2015 which hopefully will be signed within 2019.Farooq said that the PTBC will bridge the gap between both countries by highlighting opportunities existing in respective countries.

In this context he said that PTBC will establish close liaison with trade associations to give the awareness about the opportunities.He said that pragmatic strategy is needed to enhance trade between both the countries and in this regard if a proper marketing strategy is adopted then we can enhance the export of Pakistani traditional and non-traditional products to bring foreign exchange.
