Election committee of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Wednesday issued a code of conduct and final list of contesting candidates for maiden balloting after over last three decades scheduled for September 17 to elect the executive body.

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2018 ) :Election committee of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Wednesday issued a code of conduct and final list of contesting candidates for maiden balloting after over last three decades scheduled for September 17 to elect the executive body.

Multan Ittehad Group was the only group that had remained active in MCCI politics and candidates from the sole group used to be elected through consultations within the group. However, this time it was different after Multan Friends Group started muscle flexing and positioned candidates against veterans' Ittehad Group.

MCCI executive body is composed of 26 members who are elected for two years. September 17 polls would elect twelve members including seven corporate and five members for associate class seats. One reserved seat would go to some woman entrepreneur.

Thirteen other members would complete their two-year term at the end of fiscal year 2018-19.

The executive body elects the President of MCCI for one year term and voting would be held on September 28.

Both groups have their own candidates in the field, seven each for corporate seats and five each for associate class seats.

The Associate class candidates included Khawaja Riaz Hussain Siddiqui, Nadeem Ahmad, Muhammad Ramzan Bhutta, Anwar Saleem Kan, Sheikh Faheem Sattar, Khawaja Muhammad Badar Munir, Sheikh Muhammad Amjad, Muhammad Suhail Tufail, Khawaja Muhammad Usman, and Muhammad Waqas Azam.

Corporate class candidates included Shakeel Ahmad, Arshad Iqbal Sheikh, Raza Ammar, Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Azhar Javed, Saim Zulfiqar, Khawaja Azhar Ahmad, Mian rasheed Iqbal, Naeem Ahmad, Khawaja Muhammad Hussain, Muhammad Sarfraz, Majeedullah Khan, Muhammad tariq Khan and Muhammad Aqeel Ijaz.

MCCI had witnessed proper elections involving balloting around over three decades ago and hence the election committee has come up with an election code of conduct according to which only voters would be able to enter the MCCI building on polling day after showing their CNIC, passport or driving license.

Those entering the building with smartphones would have their votes cancelled.

Only ten voters would be allowed to enter at a time.

Candidates and their supporters would not be allowed to campaign through publicity like billboards, panaflex, posters, newspaper advertisements and would not be allowed to say or publish anything that can hurt sentiments of any group or voters.

In case of equal votes, draw would be held to decide winner in the presence of polling agents.
