ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 18th March, 2019) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government on Monday launched a week long Clean and Green campaign in Islamabad.Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed inaugurated the campaign at a ceremony at Islamabad Airport.Speaking on the occasion, he said National highway authority has been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure cleanliness and greenery around its road infrastructure projects."The drive will continue at 15 spots", the minister continued.
He regretted that during last 5 years many trees were cut and added that issue will not be resolved until ownership by every citizen.
Expressing her views on the occasion, State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul said that the programme is aimed at eliminating environmental hazards by planting saplings across the country.She said record rain and snowfall were recorded in the country during current year.
Back in the month of October, Prime Minister Imran Khan had launched the countrywide Clean and Green Pakistan' campaign."This campaign is for our future. Everyone has to partake in it," the prime minister urged, lamenting: "Pakistan is a gift but unfortunately we haven't paid attention to its beautification." NNI
