A survey of different markets revealed that 'naan and khameri roti' are being sold for Rs12 and 10 respectively a piece and 'pateeri' roti for Rs7 at Saddar, Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Dhoke Syedan, Masrial Road, Bakra Mandi, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Bagh, Raja Bazar and several other areas of the town as city's Naan Bai Association has increased the prices during Eid ul Fitr holidays on their own without the approval of the district administration.
Many owners of 'tandoors' have also displayed a new price list issued by their association in these areas.
According to the 'tandoor' owners, the exorbitant hike in inputs' cost forced them to opt for the raise.
Representatives of the Naanbai Association and Tandoor Owners said it was not possible for them to sell their products at pre-Eid prices.
"Gas and electricity tariff besides prices of polythene bags, fine flour and otheritems have gone up manifold," they added.
