ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -1st Sep,2016) :Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Thursday said Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and National Agriculture Research Centre (NARC) will strengthen the country's agriculture sector. Talking to newsmen, FPCCI Standing Committee, Chairman Ahmad Jawad asked Ministry of National food and Security to release the funding for the projects of the NARC for timely research and execution. "We understand that reforms are required for the organization but it doesn't mean that government may ignore country largest agriculture research institute" he said.
He said research guarantees survival and development of agriculture.
"To relocate the NARC would give irreparable loss to the agriculture sector and we would go back again from where we started," Jawad noted. Jawad due to lack of modernization in agriculture sector , average growth in yields (kg/hec) for cotton and wheat declined from 9 and 2.6 percent respectively between 1980-90 to -2.2 and 1.4 per cent respectively between 2011-16. He asked the government to formulate a comprehensive plan for the revival of agriculture sector.
