National Voter's Day Observed Across Balochistan

National Voter's Day was observed across Balochistan on Friday by organizing seminars, workshops and rallies at district levels in order to create awareness among the peoples about the importance of vote and voters.

National Voter's day aims at imparting democratic values to young voters and encouraging them to cast their vote.

People from different walks of life including civil society, NGOs, media persons, disabled persons, representatives of minorities and women participate in these activities. During these Events, people were informed about the importance of vote and registration as voter.

A main ceremony was organized at District Assembly Hall in this connection.

Deputy Commissioner, Nasirabad, Qurban Ali Magsi on this occasion said that National Voter's Day marked the power of every individual's vote.

District Election Commissioner, Imran Sheikh said that voters' participation in the democratic and electoral processes, was vital for elections and integral to run a successful democracy.

The speakers said that civil society and media should launch a campaign to ensure registration of all eligible people as voters.

They said that women and disabled persons should be encouraged to get them registered as voters and use their constitutional right to vote in elections for positive change.

Later the participants of the seminar held a walk.

An awareness seminar was also organized in District Kharan by District Election Commission office Deputy Commissioner Kharan Ismail Ibrahim Baloch and Assistant Election Commissioner Muhammad Hashim while addressing the seminar said that casting Vote was a basic right adding it enabled the person with the right to question the government about issues.

Voting is the way to express the opinion of a citizen in a democratic nation.

Similarly a National Voter's Day workshop was held in District Loralai.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Loralai Ejaz Ahmed and District Election Commissioner Syed Nazeer Shah while addressing the workshop said that every adult was given the right to vote, irrespective of sex, class and occupation.

It was a fundamental right in which all citizens got an opportunity to choose their representatives, they added.

While Regional Election Commissioner Sibi Muhammad Imran and District Election Commissioner Sibi Nadeem Asghar Palal stressed the need for creating awareness among people about their constitutional right to vote.

They said that citizens could play a vital role in national development by using their right of franchise in elections.

They expressed these views in a ceremony held at Girl's Degree College Sibi.

District Chairman Gwadar Babu Gulab on National Voter's Day in a seminar held at District Council Hall said "Importance of casting vote is also must for consolidation of democratic process as it is the best way to bringing a positive change in the system of governance in the country".
