NAVTTC, Chinese Commission agree to employ youth in CPEC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -5th Sep,2016) : National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has decided to upgrade its labs throughout the country to ensure skillful youth employment in different projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

It was decided, when a delegation of Tianjin Development and Reform Commission China met with Executive Director, NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema here on Monday. China will help Pakistan in the up-gradation of labs including electrician, computer programming and machinery, it was said.

The meeting was organized aims at to enhance cooperation and boost collaboration in various areas of technical and vocational sector in Pakistan. The delegation comprised Mr. Fan Zhiyong, Deputy Division Chief, Mr.

Zhang Yuzhou, Director of Engineering Training Center, Ms. Li Wenjia, Deputy Division Chief of Foreign Affairs office, and Mr. Zeng Hui. Zulfiqar Cheema briefed the delegation about the recent initiatives taken by NAVTTC to introduce reforms in the current TVET system of Pakistan.

The Executive Director said that the growing population of youth is the most valuable asset of Pakistan and there is need to polish their skills in various vocational fields enabling them to contribute towards the sustainable development of the country.

He urged the two countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan. Cheema emphasized that the CPEC can be a fate changer and will guarantee development and prosperity of the people of Pakistan.

Pakistan, he said, has always cherished its friendly ties with China and now CPEC is going to turn this friendship into a strategic economic partnership. The delegation praised the steps taken by NAVTTC to boost the TVET sector of Pakistan and assured their full cooperation in this regard.

The delegation also visited National Training Bureau (NTB) and it was mutually agreed that NTB will be transformed into a Center of Excellence of international standard. On this occasion, Mr. Cheema said that initially five thousand young men and women would be trained at National Training Bureau and their number will be increased to ten thousand soon.
