Nawaz Sharif, Maryam appeals adjourned till Wednesday

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday adjourned hearing till tomorrow on the pleas seeking suspension of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz's imprisonment sentence in Avenfield property reference.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Sep, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday adjourned hearing till tomorrow on the pleas seeking suspension of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz's imprisonment sentence in Avenfield property reference.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurengzaib observed that the bench will decide the matter on basis of written arguments of NAB if its prosecutor didn't conclude his arguments on Wednesday.

A divisional bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb conducted hearing over the appeals of Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired Capt. Muhammad Safdar against the trial court's judgment in Avenfield property reference.

Earlier during the course of proceeding, Justice Miangul Hassan asked NAB prosecutor whether Maryam Nawaz had made assets beyond the sources of income.

NAB prosecutor Akram Qureshi replied in yes and stated that the department had submitted evidence before the accountability court in this regard.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked that may be the trial court didn't accept these evidences. The trial court's decision was based on assumptions but the bench had to view this judgment, he further said.

On which, the NAB prosecutor stated that he would present a detailed chart before court in this regard and requested the bench to grant one-day for this purpose.

Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the court wanted the NAB prosecutor to conclude his arguments today. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurganzeb said that the bench had granted time several times to the NAB prosecutor in this regard.

The bench directed the prosecutor to conclude his arguments till tomorrow otherwise the court would decide the matter on the basis of written arguments.
