National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Wednesday notified to increase the power tariff by Rs0.57 per unit on account of fuel price adjustment for the month of December 2018
The increase in tariff of electricity would put burden of around Rs4.
20 billion on the electricity consumers.
NEPRA observed that Rs5 to 10 billion could have been saved by using liquefied natural gas (LNG). Central Power Purchase Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) noted that LNG was not available for power plants from December 6 to 30. Therefore, the plants remained dysfunctional during the said period due to non-availability of the LNG.
