Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th March, 2019) An artist in New Zealand has painted a mural of Naeem Rashid, the Pakistani hero who resisted terrorist Brenton Tarrant as he opened indiscriminate fire at worshippers in New Zealand's mosque during Friday prayers.
The New Zealand-based artist, Paul Walsh drew the mural in West Auckland.
The memorial is a tribute to all 50 Muslim lives lost in the terrorist attack.
The mural has a portrait of Naeem Rashid besides a tagline “Remember the heroes” in green and black background.
New Zealand was struck by two deadly attacks in Christchurch on Friday, with 50 people killed and another 20 seriously injured after gun assaults on mosques as Muslims worshipped.
A total of nine Pakistanis were martyred in the attack.
Naeem Rashid was injured in his bid to overpower the attacker and passed away on Saturday after succumbing to his injuries. His son, 22-year-old Talha Naeem, a civil engineering graduate, was among those who lost their lives in the shooting.
Naeem Rashid was a teacher and father of three who had emigrated from Pakistan a decade ago.
The Pakistani man is being hailed as a hero in Pakistan and abroad for courageously resisting terrorist Brenton Tarrant as he opened fire indiscriminately at worshippers in New Zealand's mosque during Friday prayers.
