Newly Upgraded Gas Supply Line (Segment-4) Inaugurated For Peshawar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra and MNA Arbab Sher Ali here Thursday formally inaugurated newly upgraded Sui-gas supply lines (Segment-4) for provincial metropolis.
General Manager SNGPL, Arbab Saqib and DG PDA Israrul Haq were also present on this occasion.
Talking to media, Provincial Finance Minister, Taimur Saleem Jhagra said the officials of SNGPL upgraded the pipeline that was laid in 1972 and the work was completed at a time when the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was in progress. The whole team of SNGPL that worked on this project including the GM and DG PDA deserved appreciation for this achievement.
The project, he said, would not only address the issue of low pressure of gas but also provide relief to the general public, he said.
Jhagra further said that gas pressure of Segment-3 which was earlier one pound has now reached 20 Pounds after up gradation.
This project worth Rs150 million, he said, would benefit areas including Canal Road, Nasir Baagh, all localities of Town, Jamrud Road, University Campus and Palosai. The issue of low pressure of gas in these areas would get addressed to a great extent.
Besides initiation of new projects, he informed work on long awaited projects was also in full swing.
GB Sui-gas KP, Arbab Saqib said the diameter of gas pipe at GT Road was 8 inches while on Jamrud Road it was 6 inches however taking advantage of BRT project the GT Road gas pipeline was upgraded to 12 inches and for Jamrud Rad the same was upgraded to 10 inches diameter.
He further informed that under a master plan Peshawar district was divided into five separate segments including city, Warsak, rural, Warsak City and Hayatabd.
He said all pipelines of Sui-gas had been upgraded in Peshawar and extra support of supply from transmission line to the tail end of the network would be received by January. The total cost of this up gradation and augmentation, he said, was around 500 million rupees that also included extra support from main transmission line.
He Provincial Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra and MNA Sher Ali for their personal interest in these important projects including completion of Segment-3 for Peshawar.
MNA Sher Ali on this occasion said after completion of Segment-4, the work on Segment-2 and 3 would also started soon that would benefit areas of Nauthia, Sunehri Masjid and all localities of Warsak Road.
