
NHA Awards Contracts For Three Sections Of Hakla-Burhan Expressway

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july, 2016) : National Highway Authority (NHA) has awarded contracts of three sections of Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan Expressway and it is hoped that the remaining two sections contracts will also be awarded soon. An official of the NHA told APP that the Hakla-D.I.Khan section was one of the priority projects of the authority as it formed part of Western Route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The officail said groundbreaking of 285-kilometre long Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla expressway was performed by the Prime Minister in May and work on 55-km Yarik-Rehmani Khail section of the road had started. The NHA Executive board accorded approval for award of works for Pindigheb to Tarap (Package-IV) of Hakla-D.I.
Khan Motorway on June 15. The 50 km 4-lane section will be completed in two years at a cost of around Rs. 21 billion. The construction contract of Tarap-Kot Belian (Mianwali) section of western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was awarded in on June 30.
The 52-km long project will be completed in two years at a cost of Rs. 20 billion. The four-lane expressway is part of western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor and will be completed at a cost of over Rs 129.8 billion in two years. The project which includes construction of several bridges and interchanges will link the undeveloped areas of Punjab and Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa with the CPEC road network. He said as part of the Western Route, earlier a road was to be built from Burhan but now work would start from Hakla to Dera Ismail Khan.The expressway will connect M-1 to Gwadar Port through Mughal Kot, Zhob, Quetta, Sorab and Hoshab. He said Western route passes through less developed parts of the country and government is committed to its early completion so that they may also become part of national development process.
