No compromise on rights given under 18th Amendment: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said that opposition would not compromise on democratic, human and economic rights of the people and would not let anybody snatch away the financial resources given under the 18th Amendment

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2019 ) :Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said that opposition would not compromise on democratic, human and economic rights of the people and would not let anybody snatch away the financial resources given under the 18th Amendment.

Speaking in the National Assembly on a point of order, he said "PPP and PML- N governments completed their constitutional tenures which is a historical success of democracy and present Parliament will also complete its tenure, achieving another landmark." "We will not compromise if the democracy is attacked. We will not compromise on democratic rights, human and economic rights of the people at any cost," he added.

He said that the opposition would not allow anyone snatch the rights given to the provinces under the 18th Amendment.

The PPP chairman said, "People from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been struggling for their rights.

They got their rights and we will not let anyone deprive them of their rights." About inclusion of his name in the ECL, he said ,"I don't care if they remove my name [from the ECL] or not; it's not a favour to me." He said that the apex court, in the presence of lawyers and senior journalists, had ordered to expunge his name from the ECL.

The chairman thanked the political leadership for speaking in his favour and supporting removal of his name from the ECL.

The PPP chairperson also talked about the apex court's recent verdict, rejecting the Sindh government's request for ownership of three major Karachi hospitals and ordering the Federal government to continue the ownership of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases and the National Institute of Child Health." "A full order has not yet come so I will not be able to speak on it in detail," he said, adding that in case these hospitals are taken from Sindh, it will be impossible for him to explain it to the people.

He said that annual budget of NICVD was Rs 14 billion and poor people of the Sindh province were getting world-class treatment free of cost.

He said the PPP government had established hospitals at district level to provide free and quality treatment to people.

The chairman also talked about the meeting of opposition members and said it was agreed thatthe economic, human and democratic rights of the people will not be compromised. He expressedthe hope that the government allies will also support the opposition initiative.
