No compromise to be made on country's sovereignty: Omar Ayub

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2019 ) :Minister for Power and Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan Wednesday said no compromise would be made on the national interest and always keep supreme to sovereignty of the country.

Talking to a private news channel, the minister said the previous governments had also approached to International Monetary Fund (IMF) during their regimes but the incumbent government had not committed any sin while approaching it to strengthen national economy.

He said the incumbent government had inherited increased inflation and we were trying to decrease it, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had left huge burden of loans for new government.

He asked the previous governments to tell where they had spent a huge amount of loans in the country. The last government of PML-N had badly destroyed the gas sector, he added.

He said previous governments were responsible for fragile national economy but the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was working to bring visible improvement in all sectors of the country.

Omar Ayub Khan said due to hectic and sincere efforts of the government more than 80 per cent feeders had been supplying uninterrupted electricity throughout the country and increased more than Rs 80 billion revenue during few months through improving transmission lines system.

Replying to a question, he said the government was making policies for bringing renewable energy in the country, adding PTI government had taken different concrete measures for stopping electricity pilferage from the country.

He said Saudi Arab would provide $3.2 billion Dollars oil to Pakistan in shape of loan during three years.
