ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2019 ) :With each passing day, the trend of book reading is decreasing in the modern internet world, due to people wanting one-click remote for everything in life.
In today's world, the younger generation has changed their habits of playing in grounds or engaging themselves in healthy activities and instead has restricted themselves to their rooms or houses playing video games or using smart phones, tablets, laptops etc.
Talking to APP, Eithsham Kiyani, Ex-Community Librarian I-10, Islamabad said the online gadgets have captured the minds of our younger generation and are spoiling their lives. "Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything but book reading has declined rapidly in the modern digital world," he said.
He said people in today's world are always seen in a rush as they want everything to happen in one-click which is the main reason for the decline of book reading. "Earlier, the people used to consult books if they wanted to gain knowledge or information on anything, but nowadays they search for everything online," he said.
He pointed that the people's attendance in libraries is decreased day by day which is disturbing as libraries will see no readers if things go like this. "Book reading enables a man to think deeper and makes people intelligent to the facts and figures on the day-to-day affairs," he said and appealed the government to play a part in revving the book reading habit among the citizens.
