LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Dec, 2017 ) :Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) is a project of the whole nation and it will be completed with national zeal and the delay will be compensated with hard work.
He said this while addressing a meeting from Punjab House Islamabad on Wednesday through video-link, to review progress on civil, electrical and mechanical works and the future course of action.
"Let bygones be bygones and it is time to think of the future and the project should be implemented in a speedy manner because this gigantic project of public interest has been much delayed," he added.
The political elements, due to which delay occurred, have no concern with the welfare of the common man. We have started this project for the masses and after getting permission from the Supreme Court, the project has to be completed as early as possible with renewed commitment, passion and hard work.
Bigger the challenge, the more hard work has to be utilised, he said. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that OLMT project is a milestone initiative in the transport sector and the ordinary people would enjoy honorable, secure and durable traveling facilities after the completion of this project.
He directed that 24-hour work should be done on this project and effective safety measures should be ensured for the workers and technicians working on this project.
He added that workers should wear helmets during their work and safety measures should also be regularly monitored.
The CM made it clear that he would not tolerate any leniency in safety standards and the directions issued by the court would be implemented. He said that all necessary resources should be utilised for immediate completion of pending works of package-I and package-II and the line departments should speed up the construction work by maintaining close and continuous liaison with each other.
"Every moment is precious and you all have to work as a team. Therefore, double your efforts and all the energies should be utilised for completion of the project. "Now, you have to speedily work with solid determination and passion and it is a golden time to show something to the nation," the CM added.
"Accept the challenge, move further and give results. I shall personally monitor progress made on this project," he added. The CM also recited a couplet on the occasion; "Musafir Shab Ko Uthta Hay.
Jo Jana Door Hota Hay." MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority, DG LDA, CEO Punjab Thermal Power Limited, NESPAK officials, contractors and China Railway and NORINCO officials attended the meeting from Lahore through the video link.
