Over 150,000 Citizens Visiting 16 Ramazan Bazaars Of District Daily: Rashid Hafeez

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2019 ) :Over 150,000 citizens are visiting daily 16 Ramazan Sasta Bazaars established in Rawalpindi District on the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to supply quality food items on approved and subsidized rates.
According to Punjab Minister for education Raja Rashid Hafeez, 40 percent subsidy was being given to the citizens on rates of wheat flour bag besides ensuring regular supply of sugar and other essential food items at Ramazan Bazaars.
He informed that mutton and beef were being supplied at Rs 750 and Rs 345 rates respectively in Ramazan bazaars.
He said, 10 kg wheat flour bag was being supplied at Ramazan Bazaars at Rs 290 subsidized rate as compared to open market rate of Rs 450.
As many as 1200 flour bags were being supplied to each Ramazan Bazaar on daily basis and flour quality and quantity was also being monitored, he added.
Meanwhile, Punjab Special Secretary for Agriculture Ahsan Bhutta also visited Chor Chowk Ramazan Bazaar here.
The Special Secretary during his visit said, the Rawalpindi District Administration on the directive of Punjab government had established 16 Ramazan Sasta Bazaars in the district to provide relief to the citizens.
He said, availability of essential food items were being ensured at Ramazan Bazaars on subsidized rates and according to approved rate list.
He said, the district administration was monitoring the rates and quality of all the essential items.
He visited different stalls and checked prices and quality particularly of food items. The Secretary also inspected facilities provided there.
He directed the district officers to regularly conduct operations at Ramazan Bazaars and open markets to provide relief to the citizens, adding, action in accordance with the law should be taken against profiteers and hoarders.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Ch. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Maliha Jamal, Sub-Magistrate Hafiz Imran and other officers of Rawalpindi district administration were present.
The DC informed the secretary that the district administration was fully active to provide relief to the citizens during Ramazan ul Mubarik.
He said, the price Magistrates and Assistant Commissioners were regularly conducting raids at Ramazan Bazaars and open markets to control profiteering and hoarding.
He said, the auction procedure of vegetables and fruits was also being monitored, adding, efforts were being made to ensure availability of sugar at Ramazan Bazaars.
