Over 1.8 Mln Voters To Cast Vote In Bahawalpur

Over 1.8 million voters will have been casting their votes on Wednesday July 25 for five seats of the National Assembly and 15 seats of the Provincial Assembly in Bahawalpur, for which 708 polling stations have been established.
BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2018 ) :Over 1.8 million voters will have been casting their votes on Wednesday July 25 for five seats of the National Assembly and 15 seats of the Provincial Assembly in Bahawalpur, for which 708 polling stations have been established.
Official sources at the district election commission office told APP here that all arrangements were made for vote casting in a peaceful environment. "Total number of voters including men and women who would cast their vote for five seats of the National Assembly and 15 seats of the Punjab Assembly is 1881,000," an official said, adding that 708 polling stations have been established for vote casting in different areas of the district.
He said that Pakistan Army had also been performing security duty in and around polling stations; however, the Army personnel were not given powers of magistrate. "All law enforcers including the Army personnel will obey orders of the district and session judge who is monitoring and supervising all process of vote casting," he said.
The main contesters for NA-170, Bahawalpur-1 (City) include Pakistan Muslim League-N's candidate, ex-federal minister, Eng.
Baligh-ur-Rehman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's candidate, Malik Farooq Aazam, Pakistan Peoples Party's candidate, Syed Irfan Gardezi and Muttahida Majlis Amal's candidate, Dr. Waseem Akhtar.
In NA-171, former Federal minister, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has been facing rivals including Chaudhary Naeem-Ud-Din Waraich of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Syed Salman Gardezi of Pakistan People's Party and an independent candidate, Chaudhary Tariq Bashir Cheema.
Four women have also been awarded party tickets to contest in the elections including Mirs. Khadija Waran has been awarded party ticket from PTI to contest for the National Assembly seat in NA-173 while she has been facing rival Rukhsana Jabeen who is contesting elections on the ticket of Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan. Shazia is contesting elections in NA-170 on the ticket of All Pakistan Muslim League and Farzana Rauf is contesting for provincial seat in Yazman tehsil on the ticket of PTI.
