Over 400,000 Youth To Get Training In Next 5 Years: Chief Executive Officer Punjab Skills Development Fund Jawwad Khan

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) Jawwad Khan said on Thursday that over 400,000 youngsters, 40 per cent of them women, would undergo skills development training in different disciplines over the next five years to improve their capacity to earn livelihood.
MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 01st Mar, 2018 ) :Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) Jawwad Khan said on Thursday that over 400,000 youngsters, 40 per cent of them women, would undergo skills development training in different disciplines over the next five years to improve their capacity to earn livelihood.
While addressing a ceremony at Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), he said that the PSDF was working in all 36 districts of Punjab in cooperation with technical education and training institutions besides business and industrial sectors.
So far, 250,000 youngsters have been trained in different disciplines including 100,000 from South Punjab. He disclosed that Punjab government was spending Rs50 billion per annum on skills development training of youth.
Jawwad asked Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) to submit a model detailing all processes of cotton ginning industry and added that PSDF would introduce these courses with the help of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta).
He admitted that monthly honorarium of under training youth was low but added that officials were working on it and situation would improve within next few months. Chief Operating Officer of PSDF Ali Akbar Bosan said that 10-12 industries of South Punjab were linked with PSDF but added that they wanted to improve the linkage up to at least 50 industries.
Earlier, MCCI Vice President Khwaja Muhammad Farooq said that skills development programme of PSDF would provide skilled workforce for industries in South Punjab. He demanded that the PSDF should set up a help desk at MCCI for better coordination with the industrial sector.
