Over 65,000 special persons would be registered in Punjab under the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme

WAH CANTT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Aug, 2024) The Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Sohail Shaukat Butt has said that over 65,000 special persons would be registered in Punjab under the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme, while 20,000 special persons have been registered across Punjab so far.

He expressed these views while talking to newsmen in Taxila on Thursday after reviewing the ongoing registration process for the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme for special persons.

He added that the government had approved a stipend amounting to Rs 10,500 for the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme, adding that special persons registered with the Social Welfare Department would be eligible for a quarterly stipend amounting to Rs 10,500.

He also revealed that the Punjab government is providing a stipend of Rs. 7,500, which is valuable support to individuals suffering from any physical or mental disability.

Responding to a question, Mr. Butt said that all possible steps were being taken to maintain transparency, adding that persons not capable of working as per disability certificates are eligible for the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme.

"This initiative reflects our dedication to creating a society where every individual is valued and supported. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to build a future where disability is not a barrier to success," he further added.
