Over Rs 13 Bln Spent On Reconstruction, Rehabilitation Projects In Merged Districts: Official Data

The federal cabinet has approved Rs 26 billion this year for reconstruction of damaged houses and rehabilitation infrastructure development in the merged districts out of which over Rs 13 million spent
According to official data released here, the department of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Pak Army executed the projects where Rs 11 billion were spent on reconstruction of damaged houses while Rs 3.76 billion were spent on infrastructure development.
The owners of completely damaged houses received Rs 400,000 compensation while Rs 160,000 were paid to owner of partially damaged houses. Similarly, eight highways, parks, markets and hospitals were being constructed in merged districts under infrastructure development projects, the document revealed.
Under Rehabilitation program, as many as 238 schools are being reconstructed in the merged areas that would benefit 35,000 students. Likewise 73 basic health centres are being constructed in the areas to provide basic health facilities at the door step of the masses.
Similarly, 258 projects of drinking water are being completed with the amount allocated by the government to ensure provision of drinking water facility to tribal people.
Under reconstruction program, each displaced family of the tribal district was given Rs 35,000 financial support on their return to native areas, it said adding that so far 2.29 billion rupees have been disbursed among 55925 families while Rs 370 million would more be distributed.
