Pak Army Rescues Stranded Tourists In Nathia Gali

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd January, 2019) The rescue teams of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) have been sent to rescue the stranded tourists in Nathia Gali.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) DG Major General Asif Ghafoor said that upon media reports, the Pak Army rescue teams have been sent to help the civil administration to rescue stranded tourists at Toheed Abad near Nathia Gali.
These rescue teams are carrying medicines and food items as well, he said.
“On media reports of stranded tourists at Toheed Abad near Nathia Gali a rescue team each of Army and PAF sent in support of civil administration. Rescue teams carrying medicines and food items. Road blocked due to heavy snowfall and broken down vehicles. Approach being cleared,” the DG ISPR wrote on Twitter.
A new spell of snowfall and rain started in Hazara division late Sunday night brought the mercury level below zero in most parts of the region.
Naran, Battagram, Torghar, Thandyani, Galiyat and other parts in upper Hazara division received heavy snowfall during last 24 hour. The Met Office forecast snowfall for next two days while heavy downpour for plain areas.
Due to heavy snowfall that Kaghan road, Thandyani road, Main Muree road from Nathia Gali to Donga Gali were blocked for all sorts of traffic.
The snowfall had damaged the electricity transmission system in district Battagram where up to 2 feet snow was recorded during last 24 hours while due to freezing temperature pneumonia also struck the area and 20 children caught by the disease were admitted in the hospital.
