Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Saturday issued notice to news channels for airing malicious remarks of Nihal Hashmi against state institution.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Oct, 2018 ) :Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Saturday issued notice to news channels for airing malicious remarks of Nihal Hashmi against state institution.

PEMRA takes cognizance of controversial speech of Nihal Hashmi against state institution in violation of the PEMRA Code of Conduct, said a press release issued here.

PEMRA in its show cause notice issued to all news channels which have aired the controversial and objectionable remarks of Nihal Hashmi against state institution has asked to show cause within seven days and explain that why the space was provided to a person who has history of uttering such controversial statements in past.

In case channels fail to explain its position the action will be taken against them which may result in fine or suspension of channels.
