Pakistan Has Tremendous Tourism Potential: Zain Qureshi

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2019 ) :Member National Assembly (MNA) Zain Qureshi Thursday emphasized to increase people to people contact with Poland for greater relationship between the two countries.

He was a chairing a briefing session of Pakistan-Poland parliamentary friendship group.

Director General from Ministry of foreign affairs, Malik Farooq in his presentation briefed the parliamentary group about the relationship between two countries.

In his briefing, the DG informed parliamentarians about the pivotal role of Poland in setting up Pakistan Air For (PAF).

"The pilots of Polish Air Force even fought the war of 1965 " the DG said.

Pakistan had good relations with Poland in the past with passage of time these relations went cold, said the DG adding there was no higher-level relations between the two countries however Pakistan had one friendship group in polish parliament.

He said Pakistan needed continuity in its relations at all level to change the perception of EU countries about Pakistan despite the fact Poland supported Pakistan in getting GSP plus status.

He also advised the parliamentarians to improve political relations with Poland.

Giving number of Pakistanis living in Poland the DG said that total 482 Pakistanis living in Poland and few of them holding polish nationality however many use Poland as transit country to enter in Germany or France.

Pakistan has exports of 224 million US Dollars with Poland whereas imports are equal to 113 million US Dollar, said the DG adding only one polish company "PGNiG" has investment in Pakistan's oil sector and they are interested to increase the investment.

The members emphasized the need to start journalist exchange porgamme with Poland as well as to enhance cultural cooperation between the two country to restore the confidence.

The convener of the meeting at the end with a vote of thanks to the parliamentarians said that purpose of the group was to improve relations with Poland since it is one largest economy of Europe worth of around one trillion US dollars.

He endorsed the idea to improve relations with Poland at people to people level as well parliament to parliament level while inviting the polish ambassador in the next meeting.
