MULTAN,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Sep, 2018 ) :Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Multan chapter has called upon the Punjab government to implement Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) healthcare model for security of doctors working in public and private hospitals across the province.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, PMA President Dr Masoodul Hiraj said that the government should follow KPK Healthcare Service Persons and Institutions Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property Act 2018 to ensure doctors' security in the province.
He said that it would help check incidents like the one occurring in Rahim Yar Khan's Sheikh Zayed Hospital last week, where a sweeper attempted to assault a lady doctor.
Accompanied by PMA General Secretary Dr Rana Khawar, Information Secretary Dr Imran Rafiq and other office-bearers, he demanded the Punjab government to hold an impartial inquiry into the incident.
"Punjab Heath Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has given us on appointment on Sept 26 for a meeting in this connection," Dr Hiraj added.
He requested doctors not to close OPDs of public hospitals and provide treatment facilities to patients.
