Prime Minister of Pakistan addressed BRI ceremony in Beijing, calls for addressing poverty, climate change issues
LAHORE- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 26th April 2019) Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the world leaders to make united efforts to address issues of climate change and poverty.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of the second Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on Friday.
The prime minister went to China on a four-day visit on Thursday to attend the BRI ceremony on invitation of the Chinese president.
The PM said that BRI was a great step towards globalization and it would help the world to address issues of poverty and hunger.
"The BRI marks a new and distinct phase in the onward march of nations in the world along the path of globalization".
He added that the presence of world leaders in the ceremony was proof that we choose hope over despair and cooperation over confrontation.
“122 states and 49 international organizations have signed onto the BRI's vision and this is a historic and monumental development," said the prime minister.
He added that the BRI presented a model of partnership and collaboration among the different nation. He added that Pakistan was proud to have partnered with China in this transformative venture. Pakistan, he added, was among the BRI's earliest and most enthusiastic proponents.
