
Pakistan Receives Remittance Amounting To US$12.7 Billion In Three Years: NA Told

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Augst,2016) : Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Syed Sardaruddin Shah Rashidi Wednesday said that Pakistan received a total of remittance amounting to US $12.7 billion from overseas Pakistanis living in gulf countries in its tenure. The minister in his written reply said in the National Assembly that Overseas Pakistan Foundation (OPF) was committed to render better and improved services by providing relief to the overseas Pakistanis and their dependents in the redressal of their grievances, early settlement of death and disability dues, facilitation to incoming and outgoing OPs at all international airports, financial assistance to the families of destitute overseas Pakistanis, meeting the educational needs of the children of overseas Pakistanis and provision of plots on subsidized rates.
He said these existing schemes were continuously being revised to make them more efficient in service delivery for the benefit of overseas Pakistanis.
He said according to Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE), approximately 86,864 Pakistanis had proceeded abroad for employment from Malakand Agency during the period 1981- March, 2016. He said OPF Regional Office was located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding currently, there was no proposal under consideration for opening of a sub-office in Malakand Division. While Parliamentary Secretary of the ministry Sardar Shafqat Hayat Khan said Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development had recently selected 18 Community Welfare Attaches (CWAs) for their posting in different Pakistan Missions abroad.
He said six CWAs had joined their place of posting, adding the remaining CWAs were waiting for endorsement of visas.
