ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Oct, 2016 ) : Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ch Muhammad Barjees Tahir Wednesday said the government will observe October 27 as Black Day to convey a message to the international community that India's occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was totally illegal, unjust and contrary to the Kashmiris' aspirations.
He said this while chairing a meeting to review preparations regarding the black day. The meeting was attended by representatives of provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, ministry officials and Foreign Office.
The minister said the day should be marked in a proper manner, adding Pakistan would continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris. He said Pakistan has already exposed the Indian armed forces atrocities in Occupied Kashmir at all international forums.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his recent address to the United Nations General Assembly effectively presented Pakistan's stance on Kashmir issue and highlighted the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris, he added.
He said Pakistan had a clear stance that without the resolution of Kashmir issue, sustainable peace was not possible in the region. The representatives present in the meeting ensured the minister regarding preparations for black day and said seminars and walks would be arranged.
Special articles and news will be published in print media and special programmes would be aired on different channels and Radio Pakistan to highlight significance of the day. It was pertinent to mention here it was on October 27 in 1947 when Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the Partition Plan and against the will of the Kashmiri people.
