Parliamentarians Welcome Punjab Govt Decision To Lift Ban On Basant

Parliamentarians on Wednesday welcomed the decision of Punjab government to remove ban on celebration of Basant festival while stressing that the government should ensure safety measures.
Talking to media outside Parliament House, Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem said that safety and security should be given prime importance, adding that Basant festival should be celebrated in an organized manner.
Senator Waleed Iqbal also welcomed the Punjab government's decision to announce Basant celebrations, however, he called for steps that protect citizens.
Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that Basant festival should be held but preventive measures should also be ensured.
He said that Basant festival was aimed to celebrate pleasant weather and it should be held.
Senator Seemi Ezdi called the Punjab government decision to withdraw ban on Basant celebrations as right one.
MNA Kanwal Shauzab said that safety was must but if government properly organized and ensured all safety measures than the festival would surely promote culture and tourism in the country.
She said that in the past people visited Pakistan for Basant celebrations from all over the world.
The festival would give people an opportunityto come together and enjoy time with family and friends and celebrate thearrival of spring.
