KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018 ) :The 65th birth anniversary of slain leader of the country, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto is being celebrated Thursday by her supporters and followers in Karachi.
Pakistan Peoples Party, formed by her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and led by herself for years till her assassination in 2007, had otherwise announced to hold a major congregation cum ceremony in Larkana this evening.
"She belonged to Karachi, was born here and alongwith her parents was our part which demanded that we celebrate her," said Kaniz Fatima, a senior PPP member.
Fatima, unable to be in Larkana due to her age belonged to those die hard supporters of Bhuttos who had joined the party as a young activist in late 1960s.
According to self proclaimed disciples of Bhuttos PPP kindled a hope for the working class and proponents of social justice and this was retained even after the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by BB.
"We owe to them," commented Sharaf Saadat, a party worker associated with Pakistan International Airlines.
The two activists along with several other party workers celebrating the birth anniversary of BB in areas like Landhi, Korangi, Saudabad, Malir and even at Liaqutabad were unanimous that their respect for BB was beyond any expectations.
"There is yet a hope that the actual spirit of PPP will be restored and a struggle would be waged to achieve those ambitious goals," said Baboo Bhai another die hard supporter of the Bhuttos.
The workers were also little reluctant to share the hope of being accorded due respect by the party leadership.
Meanwhile, office bearers of PPP - Karachi also arranged a cake cutting ceremony at the party's main office, however, absence of any significant leader on the occasion failed to attract attention of vast majority of the members.
