PDMA Reconstructs 70 Schools In Flood Affected Areas

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reconstructed 70 schools affected by the floods during the last four years and handed over it to the Education Department KP while work on 40 others was in progress across the province
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2021 ) :The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reconstructed 70 schools affected by the floods during the last four years and handed over it to the Education Department KP while work on 40 others was in progress across the province.
The spokesperson of PDMA said reconstruction of these schools was carried out in accordance with earthquake safety rules.
The Provincial Reconstruction Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PDMA-PaRRSA) has reconstructed 42 schools in Malakand Division including 19 schools in Swat, seven each in Dir Lower and Upper Dir, four Malakand, five in Shangla district, while 28 schools in other districts have been completed in Nowshera 16, Charsadda five, Peshawar one and six in DI Khan district.At the end of 2017, reconstruction of these schools was assigned to PDMA-PaRRSA.
Local community stated that the standard buildings of schools with facilities help to boost education ratio, as more and more students are being enrolled in these facilities day by day.
"These newly reconstructed schools are well equipped with good facilities as required for an institution like boundary walls, furniture, power supply and best designed buildings. Ramps and separate toilets for special children's also provided in these schools.
The newly reconstructed buildings would provide best learning atmosphere and have been welcomed by the community members as these schools have been reconstructed in short period of time.
PDMA-PaRRSA has also successfully rehabilitated and reconstructed 55 number of water supply schemes including water storage tanks, hand pumps and drinking water supply systems in the remote and far-flung areas of district Swat and Buner, which is benefiting about 34000 families.
PDMA-PaRRSA has completed 22 drinking water supply schemes in District Buner and handed over to the Line Department while 33 water supply schemes have been completed in district Swat.
