PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Oct, 2016 ) : Provincial Executive Council of Private Education Network (PEN) Friday rejected the announcement of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to conduct board examination of fifth and eighth grade and threatened to launch an agitation against the decision.
In press statement issued here, PEN said that they would move court if the government failed to show seriousness in deciding the matter that would affect hundreds of thousands of students in KP.
It was said that policies of government to reform education sector was ill planned and miscalculated and would destroy jeopardize the fate of private school that are endeavoring to improve educational standard of their students.
It would also waste the precious time of students in this competitive atmosphere. It was alleged that Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has only the authority to conduct examination of intermediate and secondary level and they are acting beyond their ambit to take examinations of fifth and eighth class.
All boards of KP did not fulfill the criteria as per 1990 Act which requires them to formulate a body with proper representation of all the concerned including private sectors but unfortunately all the affairs of KP boards were conducted by chairman without consulting the stakeholders.
It was said that credibility of all the boards are not satisfactory as one third of those candidates who appears in examination apply for re-totaling. Prescribed rules and regulation are not followed in hiring of paper-setters, examination staff and nor in giving tenure of to chairmanships.
PEN demands government to reconsider its policy of reform in education sector and devise a result oriented plan in consultation with all the stakeholders. APP/mds/bmq
