PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Feb, 2018 ) :PESCO Surveillance Wapda House teams here on Thursday nabbed power pilferers from Peshawar and Swat Circles in a drive against illegal use of electricity to discourage power pilferage in the province.
The action was taken on directives of Chief Executive Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) Gandapur, Engineer Zakaullah Khan. The Pesco Surveillance Wapda House Teams under the supervision of Director Tahir Moeen checked different areas of Peshawar and Swat circles and during checking Peshawar Cantt and Landi Arbab sub divisions tempering in above 70 domestic and commercial connections were unearthed.
Most of the meters were found tampered while dozens direct connections were also discovered. Immediate replacement orders of the tampered meters were issued and letters for registration of FIRs against direct hook holders were also sent to concerned police.
Similarly in the areas of Khyber Circle, Pabbi-1 sub division 24 connections including Khushnasib Hotel Pabbi, Malik Electronics Pabbi involved in power pilferage were nabbed. In areas of Barikot and Kanju sub divisions of Swat Circle, 21 domestic and commercial connections involved in power pilferage were nabbed.
Pending and unbilled units were also found in meters in Barikot sub division. Orders have been issued for departmental action against responsible meter readers. Director surveillance Tahir Moeen said the drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks will continue in all circles and warned consumers to stop power pilferage in the larger interest of nation otherwise strict action will be taken against power pilferers.
Pesco employees providing support to consumers in power pilferage will also be taken to task and strict departmental action will be taken against them, he warned.
