
PITP Become Model Initiative For Integrating Youth Into Digital Economy: Sharjeel

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) The Sindh government has announced a record budget of Rs42 billion for universities and digital training programs for youth. It has also launched the second phase of the People’s IT Program, allocating Rs1.4 billion, the highest amount among all provinces in the country.
He said that the People’s Information Technology Program (PITP) has become a model initiative for integrating youth into the digital economy.
Memon said that under the first phase of the People’s IT Program, 13,565 students have been trained in modern IT fields so far. Additionally, 300 high-performing students have been awarded Google Chromebooks and laptops through a merit-based and transparent process.
He said that the second phase of the IT Program has been launched with an allocated budget of Rs1.4 billion. Under this expanded phase, 35,000 students will receive advanced training in 12 high-demand IT sectors.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that a record Rs42 billion has been allocated for government universities in the financial year 2025–26, the highest among all provinces.
He added that the Sindh government has made history in the education sector and is taking steps to equip the new generation with modern technology.
He said that the new building of the food Engineering Department at NED University has been constructed at a cost of Rs96.481 million, while the International Boys Hostel was completed at a cost of Rs67.11 million and has been opened for students. These projects, he added, are clear evidence of the improvement in higher education infrastructure.
He further said that the Sindh government is not only providing educational opportunities to the youth but also preparing them for practical life, enabling them to play a positive role in the country’s economy. He added that these initiatives are a guarantee of the province’s development and a brighter future of its youth.
