LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Jan, 2018 ) :Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) on Monday and termed it a role model for other health institutions.
He went to different sections of the OPD, inquired after patients and talked with doctors and other staff. He inspected pharmacy and checked the process of provision of medicines to patients. While expressing their satisfaction over provision of wonderful medical facilitates, different patients said that a superb medical institution had been developed for serving the ailing humanity.
The doctors and other staff members said the credit of developing this state-of-the-art institution went to the Punjab chief minister. The chief minister expressed his satisfaction that the hospital had become a role model institution and he had been feeling happy to visit it.
"I am satisfied to observe provision of the best healthcare facilities along with excellent arrangements for the patients and added that this hospital will prove to be a game-changer initiative in the health sector.
The poor patients suffering from liver and kidney diseases are being treated free-of-cost and I shall continue to regularly visit this hospital to remain fully abreast of the medical facilities being provided here," he added.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the PKLI under the chair of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review the construction work and installation of medical equipments during the second phase. The chief minister ordered for expediting work on the second phase to operationalise it by March 23.
He said that work should be continued on the project with dedication and vigor and no stone should be left unturned to complete the project well in time. He said that process of transplantation of kidney and liver should be started in the hospital by March 23.
He directed that patients should not face any difficulty with regard to their treatment during the first phase of the hospital which has already been completed.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Chairman BoD of PKLI Dr Saeed Akhter and others attended the meeting.
Later, the chief minister told the media that Khan Sahib (Imran Khan) and his PTI had done nothing during the last more than four years except for staging sit-ins, and levelling baseless allegations.
Now they are worried about facing the people as the elections are nearing. On the contrary, we are inaugurating public welfare projects including hospitals, schools, filter clinics, colleges, infrastructure and transport development schemes every day.
Meanwhile, PTI and Khan Sahib have only wasted time of people. That is why they are worried to face people. "Firstly Niazi Sabib alleged that I have taken Rs23 billion as bribe from Javed Sadiq.
Upon it, I sent a notice to him which he has not replied till today. "Then the allegation of Rs10 billion bribe was leveled in Panama case. I filed a suit but he is avoiding to appear before the court," he added.
He said that Niazi Sahib, who is the master of U-turns, falsehood and telling lies, tried to obstruct the journey of development through sit-ins and lockdowns. In a tv program, Khan Sahib claimed that he would end loadshedding in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in five years, but he is unable to produce even single kilowatt electricity till today.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government completed electricity generation projects of thousands of megawatts capacity from its own resources and we are happy that the electricity produced by these projects is being provided to the whole of Pakistan.
To a question asked about the Balochistan government, the chief minister said that we support the democratic process and added that all the political parties should also support it so that public welfare projects could be speedily completed and corruption could be eliminated as well.
It is the beauty of the democracy that elected representatives decide themselves and we are hopeful that PML-N government shall continue in Baluchistan, he added.
