
PM Directs Timely Completion Of Power Projects

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Augst,2016) : Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed for the timely completion of different ongoing power projects across the country and said that he would personally monitor the progress on fortnightly basis.
He said that he would also perform on-site visits of every power project to ensure their timely completion. The Prime Minister was chairing a meeting on energy here at the PM House.
He said the significant power addition to the national grid with the completion of ongoing projects would eliminate load shedding in the country forever. The Prime Minister said increased power generation would also contribute towards the economic growth through increased industrial activity. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
Secretary Water and Power briefed the meeting. He informed that the year 2016 remained the most stable as well as the best period for power generation in the last ten years. The Prime Minister was briefed about the timeline of different power projects to be completed between mid 2017 and March 2018.
The projects that would be completed between the given timeline include conversion of Guddu Power(additional 400MW) & Nandipur Power plants on gas (125MW), three LNG power plants (2400MW) in Punjab, Sahiwal Coal Power Plant (1350MW), Port Qasim Power Plant (1320 MW), two nuclear Power Plants (650 MW), Neelum Jhelum (979 MW) and Tarbella 4 Extension (1500 MW).
The meeting was assured of active and available power addition to the national grid by March 2018.
