PM SDGs programme to carry out development projects without any discrimination

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Oct, 2016 ) : The Steering Committee of Prime Minister Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Programme will carry out projects of electricity, gas supply, clean water, sanitation, health, education and infrastructure across Constituencies of the country.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman of the Steering Committee of Prime Minister SDGs Programme Sheikh Aftab chaired a preliminary meeting here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Cabinet Division and MNA Capt (r) Safdar alongwith senior officials from various ministries.

The minister stressed that the Prime Minister's Sustainable Development Goal is a non-political program and the development projects will be completed in every constituency regardless of the political affiliations.

The minister said that the Prime minister wanted all the development schemes to be completed in time. The meeting finalised the TORs for the speedy completion of the development projects.

The minister directed that the timeframe for the completion of formalities for all the development projects will not be more than one month.

In order to improve the working efficiency and coordination of the committee and the relevant departments, the Chairman has decided that video conferences will also be held to save time and improve efficiency.

The development schemes will be demand based and the schemes amounting from Rs 0.5 million to Rs 30 million can be initiated by the divisional commissioners. The committee has also directed that a separate database will be maintained for electricity and gas supply projects to ensure transparency and accountability.

The committee approved the release of Rs one billion rupees for the development schemes related to the supply of gas to different villages. The chairman also approved establishment of the overseeing committees in every district comprising divisional commissioner, two MNAs, two MPAs and members of local government.
