PMDC Evaluation Committee To Review Cases Of New Medical, Dental Colleges
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2017 ) : pakistan Medical and Dental council (PMDC) on Saturday constituted an evaluation committee to review cases of new medical and dental colleges.
The decision was made in PMDC 152th council meeting which was held here on Saturday to decide several important cases pertaining to medical and dental education and policy implementations with council members.
Addressing the meeting, Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarrar appreciated the Council members for giving their best in order to streamline the functioning of PMDC and medical education besides maintaining transparency.
She said that the ministry and PMDC will take improvements jointly. She assured the Council for her full support for uplifting the Council in all manners. She said that the Federal Government has no intention to interfere in the statuary powers of PMDC apex body.
She also highlighted the issue of delay in implementation of centralized induction of students in medical and dental colleges through PMDC Admission Regulations 2016 due to the pending litigation and stay orders.
She stressed that these cases may be followed by PMDC rigorously and all efforts should be made to get these stay orders vacated so that these regulations can be exercised from this year as the dates of induction for new admissions are again coming near.
President PMDC Prof Dr Sabbir Lehri said that there has been a mafia who has their own vested interest and they tried their level best to defame PMDC by portraying false news, allegations and rumors, however the Minister for National Health Services has always been helpful for PMDC in all matters.
The Council members pledged to maintain full transparency in the matters of recognition of new medical and dental colleges and constituted a four member Evaluation Committee comprising of Dr Sania Nishtar, Prof Dr Abdul Bari, Surgeon Gen Asif Sukhaira and Prof Dr Aijaz Hassan.
The committee will prepare TORs for inspection process, evaluate and review all the inspection reports of new medical and dental colleges and will give their recommendation to the ministry.
