ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Aug, 2017 ) : Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Thursday said that treatment at private hospitals was very much expensive and a policy was needed to be devised to control their charges.
Responding to a calling attention notice raised by MQM Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh, the minister said it was the rates of private hospitals were too much high as they were charging fees as per their own will.
Through the notice, the MQM senator had drawn the attention towards the fact that medicines at Al-Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, were being sold at 25% higher prices.
The minister said a policy was needed to control the affairs of private hospitals in view of expensive treatment.
However, there had been check on the prices of medicines, which were fully monitored by the government, he added. He said the government tried to provide all medicines to the people at affordable rates. The Chair also admitted an adjournment motion of Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh to discuss the Pak-Iran and TAPI gas pipeline projects and the LNG import from Qatar.
