Poor Women Perform Better In Financial Assistance Scheme

Women are producing good results at small rehabilitation, a financial assistance scheme of the Zakat Department.

MULTAN,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :Women are producing good results at small rehabilitation, a financial assistance scheme of the Zakat Department.

Under the scheme, about 250 men and women are being provided financial assistance of Rs 15,000. Although, the amount is not big, it enables the poor to run their small business, said District Officer Zakat Muhammad Ismail Sial while talking to APP, here on Tuesday.

He said that a good number of women started businesses of bangles, stitching, tuck-shops, etc., in their localities and managed to earn reasonable incomes.

He said that the Zakat Department used to offer amounts to nearly 250 poor people. About 60 per cent women received the small rehabilitation financial assistance and showed better results compared to men.

There are 558 Zakat committees, constituted in 1980 in district Multan. Now, the strength of citizens has increased significantly.

To a query, he said that Zakat Department was offering financial assistance under different heads including Guzara Allowance to 5000 poor people. Under the scheme, Rs 1000 is given to the poor monthly. Similarly, Rs 20,000 is being given in line with dowry assistance to 250 women. The department is also assisting 400 students, who are acquiring education at technical institutes.

Similarly, Zakat funds are also available for the poor patients of Nishtar Hospital, Children's Hospital andstudents of Bahauddin Zakariya University.
