Says the rifts within PMLN are so deep that it will overcome the sympathy votes
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd June, 2018) Renowned journalist Abdul Malik while talking on a tv program asked if election results will be affected if there is a decision against Nawaz Sharif and at the same time Kulsoom Nawaz’s condition deteriorates.
“To what extent the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) will be able to get sympathy votes?” he asked.
Senior journalist Amir Mateen responded that the PMLN and Sharif family will surely get sympathy if Kulsoom Nawaz’s condition further deteriorates.
“This is our culture but as long as PMLN’s election model is concerned, it has always depended on electables. PMLN candidates from outside of Lahore have left the party. They were the ones the PMLN would have used to show its power but they are no more in the party.
The vote in this case is not of sympathy but of power,” Mateen said.
“As long as the city is concerned, the candidates are fighting against candidates and brothers are fighting against each other. Hamza and Maryam are fighting each other. Their rifts are so deep that it will overcome the sympathy votes,” he added.
Several PMLN leaders have deserted from the party due to inner differences. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan announced contesting as an independent candidate following which, former provincial minister Zaeem Qadri also defected from the party and announced contesting elections as an independent candidate.
The PMLN leadership is worried due to these deserted leaders.
