PP-168 Bye-polls: Election Campaign To End Between Dec 11 And 12 Midnight

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that the election campaign for bye-election in constituency PP-168 Lahore-XXV will come to an end with effect from the midnight falling between December 11 and 12.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Dec, 2018 ) :Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday said that the election campaign for bye-election in constituency PP-168 Lahore-XXV will come to an end with effect from the midnight falling between December 11 and 12.
The commission has drawn attention of contesting candidates for bye-election to the provisions of Section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, which provide that no person will convene, hold or attend any public meeting and no person will promote or join in any procession within the area of the constituency during a period of 48 hours ending at midnight following the conclusion of the poll for an election in that constituency.
According to ECP, any person who contravenes these provisions of law will be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees or with both.
Political parties and the candidates have been requested to follow the provisions of law and exercise self-restraint so that the poll is held in an orderly and peaceful manner on December 13, 2018.
